Background & Education

When I was little I loved everything nature-related, the ocean, David Attenborough, ‘ROAR’ and ‘Deadly 60”. Having visited Cornwall often as a child, I decided study my undergraduate degree at University of Exeter in Penryn. I continued to study in Cornwall, completing my Master’s in Evolutionary and Behavioural Ecology at Exeter. Despite COVID restrictions, I was still fortunate enough to travel to the Galapagos Islands, Kenya and Iceland as part of my field work. In Iceland I spent a month in the field monitoring Light-bellied Brent Goose behaviour.

During my academic journey, I discovered that the projects and assessments I enjoyed the most were the projects where we got to translate science into engaging content towards the general public, which led me to my current role in communications.

I sought out my previous position as a Communications Assistant at the Cornwall Voluntary Sector Forum (Cornwall VSF) to gain further content creation and stakeholder engagement experience, beyond student societies, to broaden my skill set. Working across the VCSE (third) sector, I have found a passion for projects promoting the understanding of our climate and environment, food access and equality, diversity & inclusion (EDI).

Outside of work, I currently volunteer for UK Youth 4 Nature and am a Young Trustee for The Cornwall Stork Project.
